Shippers Plan Tackling Shipping Challenges Through Partnerships

007Reporters - 02:33pm

The Shippers Association of Lagos State has vowed to tackle the challenge facing the shipping sector through strategic partnerships with key industry stakeholders.

The newly elected president of the association, Fehintola Mulikat, disclosed this in a statement on Friday.

Mulikat expressed dissatisfaction with the numerous challenges that had plagued the shipping and port business.

“We have faced many problems, and some agencies are exploiting shippers,” Mulikat said.
According to her, it is time shippers begin collaborations to address these challenges.

“How do we create the employment expected in the Marine and Blue Economy in an environment that doesn’t support shipping?” Mulikat queried.

The new SALS president highlighted plans to collaborate with the Nigeria Customs Service, Nigerian Ports Authority, terminal operators, and professional groups, like the Chartered Institute of Transport Administration Nigeria.
“As a former president of CIOTA Nigeria, I have been privileged to have access to vital information about core areas of seaport and transportation,” she mentioned.
