The Delta State Police Command has arrested a suspect accused of defrauding victims by posing as a lost stranger needing directions.
According to a statement by Police Public Relations Officer Bright Edafe on X.com on Monday, the suspect would perform fetish rituals to gain the trust of victims before convincing them to hand over their valuables.
Sharing a video of the suspect Edafe wrote, “Have you ever encountered people who pretend to be strangers and looking for direction? And they end up doing one or two fetish things and before you say jack, they convince you to give them all your money and belongings, you only get yourself when they disappear.
“Well, we have arrested one of them. Pls, listen to how they do it. He said, “If he dey enjoy the life of fraud make him die”.
In a video shared by Edafe, the suspect can be heard explaining their tactics, claiming to be a stranger from another country seeking the help of victims to transport goods. The suspect allegedly promises to reward victims with a phone if they assist them.
